Darrick W. Spore, North Long Drive, Syracuse, has not entered a plea agreement as other area news agencies are reporting this morning.
Spore faces charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a class A felony and reckless homicide, a class C felony, in the June 28 death of his 12-year-old son Skyler Spore. (See Related Story)
According to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial conference was held on Nov.3 and a change of plea hearing has been scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15. The hearing will be held in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
Dan Hampton, prosecutor, stated this morning he is not aware of any plea being entered at this time.
Spore was officially charged on Aug. 28.
Candy Chamness, North Long Drive, Syracuse, who was also charged in her son’s death, entered a plea agreement on Oct. 27. Through the agreement she entered a plea of guilty to reckless homicide, class C felony. The charge of neglect of a dependent would be dismissed. Judge Michael Reed has taken the plea under advisement.
A ruling on her plea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1.
