Fussle Is Last Candidate To File For County Council

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — The deadline to file declaration of candidacies for the county council-at-large caucus was at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4. Jonathan Fussle, a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, filed his candidacy with Kosciusko County Republican Chairman, Mike Ragan, Sunday afternoon.

The caucus will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, in the old courtroom in the Kosciusko County Courthouse. Precinct committeemen will hear from the seven candidates seeking the at-large seat, left vacant with the death of longtime councilman Bob Sanders. Sanders was re-elected to his seat in November 2016. The newly elected councilman will fill the remainder of Sanders term, which expires December 2018.

Those seeking to fill the position are: Kimberly Cates, Syracuse; Josh Finch, Warsaw; Paul Finley, Warsaw; Jon Fussle, Warsaw: Brett Harter, Leesburg; Harold Jones and Tressa Nichols, both of North Webster.

Fussle was elected to the Kosciusko County Council at-large seat in 2012, but chose not to seek re-election in 2016. During his tenure as county councilman, he ran for county commissioner in 2014, but was defeated in the primary.

Fussle could not be reached for comment.

Fussle noted in his bid for county commissioner he had a passion to serve and preserve the community he grew up in. He is a graduate of Wawasee High School and attended Delta Connection Academy and Holy Cross College. He is a graduate of Comair Aviation Academy, Sanford, Fla., He attends Warsaw Community Church and lives on the south side of Warsaw. He is a professional pilot and a local, small business owner.

He and his wife, Katye, are the parents of three children and expecting their fourth child.
