INDIANAPOLIS — National Weather Service, in conjunction with the Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Broadcasters Association, American Red Cross and Amateur Radio Operators will conduct a statewide test of communication systems at 10:15 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 21.
According to Ed Rock, Kosciusko Emergency Management, if there is threatening weather on that day, the make-up drill will be held the same times Wednesday, March 22.
As part of NWS efforts to build a Weather Ready Nation, the goal of Severe Weather Preparedness Week is to better educate people about the hazards of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, and to help everyone be prepared when severe weather occurs.
More information regarding Severe Weather Preparedness Week can be found at www.weather.gov/ind/SvrWxWeek2017.
This is a good time to test individual and business plans and shelters and remind employees of their responsibilities during a tornado event.
