WINONA LAKE — “Same Kind Of Different As Me,” a best selling book and a soon to be released movie, is almost a mirror of what happens at Fellowship Missions, Warsaw. Participate in a night of hope and inspiration Thursday, March 10, at Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center, Winona Lake, to hear Ron Hall, co-author of the book, and help raise funds for Fellowship Missions to further its outreach.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission with the evening event beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a VIP Reception will begin a 5 p.m.
“The story is so close to what we do,” said Eric Lane, executive director and founder of Fellowship Missions. “We look forward to having Ron Hall here.” Lane stated a movie of Hall’s book has been produced and is scheduled to be released in late April. Attempts are being made to have a preview of the movie at this event and to bring the movie to Warsaw.
According to Lane the banquet/fundraiser will be two events in one. The VIP Reception will include a catered dinner, brief presentations by Hall and Lane, silent auction and opportunity to meet the author and receive a signed book. The general admission event will include a presentation from Hall and Lane, and written and oral testimonies from those helped by Fellowship Missions. It is hoped a preview of the movie can be shown. The hope is to fill the MOCC.
Tickets are $75 for the VIP Reception. The general admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets are available in advance at Tree of Life Bookstore, at the door the night of the event, or online. VIP tickets can be purchased by contacting Fellowship Missions at (574) 268-9555.

About Hall
Ron Hall’s life was centered around a successful career as an international art dealer and a passion for his ranch on the Brazos River, west of Fort Worth, Texas. This changed in 1998 when he encountered a homeless man threatening to kill everyone in sight of the shelter where Hall and his wife Deborah had started volunteering. They had gone there as a result of Deborah’s prophetic dream they would meet a homeless man who would confound them with his wisdom.
The man the Halls encountered was Denver Moore, a dangerous, homeless drifter who grew up picking cotton in virtual slavery in the 1960s. When Deborah Hall met Denver at the shelter, she had a vision he would change the city and her husband must befriend him. Sadly, she didn’t live to see the result of the unlikely friendship she initiated.
This life changing encounter inspired Hall to write his first book “Same Kind Of Different As Me,” a story of hope and redemption. It became a New York Times platinum bestseller and stayed on the list for more than 3 1/2 years. His story is told in an upbeat motivational program at collegiate, non-profit corporate and church events across the nation.
This story inspires people to take off their racial, social and economic blinders in order to find common ground.
Hall, who consulted with Disney and Gil Netter Productions to make the movie version, is writing a follow-up book “What Difference Do I Make?” He has also written “The Poopsie Chronicles: American Dreams and Fine Art Schemes,” spinning humorous and unbelievable tales from behind the scenes of the art world.
He wears many hats including motivational speaker, bestselling author, artist and cowboy. But his favorite hat is that of grandfather to four girls who call him “Rocky Pop.”
