William “Bill” H. Garman 63, Rochester, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at his residence.
He was born on July 24, 1952, in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of Everett and Lillian (Davis) Garman. On April 3, 1976, in Tucson, Ariz., he married Susan J. Clavers and she survives.
Bill retired from the United States Air Force as a master sargent after serving over 33 years. He served during the Vietnam War having been stationed in Vietnam, Guam and Thailand. He worked as a jet engine mechanic and air craft crew chief during his military career. He was a member of First Christian Church, Eagles Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Fulton County Habitat for Humanity, Master Gardeners, former Miami County 4-H Leader, Superintendent, 4-H Council, 4-H Fair Board and Extension Board member. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and lawn care.
Survivors include his wife: Susan J. Garman, Rochester; sons: Brian and wife Kristie Garman, Huntington; Michael Garman and girlfriend, Carrie Teller, Winder, Ga.; daughter: Sandra and husband Michael Hoffarth, Rochester; grandchildren: Galan and Liam Dishner, both of Huntington; Makenzie Garman, Huntington: Christopher and Isaac Garman, both of West Lafayette; brothers: John and wife Renate Garman, Schierstein, Germany; Jim and wife Bunny Garman, Hilton Head Island, S.C.; sisters: Nedra and husband Jim Guthrie, Grove City, Ohio; Lori and husband Darrell Tillis, Orient, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents in 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 26, 2016, at First Christian Church, Rochester, with the Rev. Mike VanHeyningen officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 .m. Thursday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester and one hour prior to service Friday at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
