jack-shumakerJack Keith Shumaker, 65, of Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in his home.

Jack was born on Sept. 13, 1950, the son of the late Calvin J. and Charlotte (Allen) Shumaker.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cynthia Shumaker of Bremen; three daughters: Jennifer (Russ) Yeo of Bourbon; Jacinda (Justin) Cunningham of Eustis, Fla.; and Sunny (Chris) Jergens of Springboro, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Clay Jackson Yeo, Masen Yeo, Cynthia Yeo, Mary Yeo, Suzie Cunningham, Jacob Cunningham, Colin Cunningham, Joseph Jackson Jergens, Archibald Jergens, and Kinsella Jergens. He is also survived by his sister, Jan (Dave) Rexstrew of Bremen.

Jack was a Bremen High School graduate, class of 1968. He served in the Army Reserves from 1974-1976. He was a real estate developer and builder, building over 500 homes in Marshall County and in 1979 began Shumaker Real Estate. In April 2011, Jack began working for Shamrock Homes and moved to Eustis, Fla., where he was a New Homes Sales Consultant. They lived in the Eustis area for 12 years before returning to Bremen. Jack loved softball and was the title sponsor of the Shumaker Builders 1982 Men’s Fast Pitch State Champions. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Jack was a loving father and grandfather who will be missed by all.

A Memorial Service in honor of Jack Shumaker will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 SR 331, Bremen, where friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pastor Jim Morse will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery, Bremen.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society
