Alice Leona Roberson, 86, a lifetime resident of Columbia City passed away at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born on September 24, 1929, in Etna Troy Township, Whitley County, the daughter of Lawrence A. and Mary J. (Mohn) Friend.
Alice graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1948. She married H. Lee Roberson at the home of Rev. Marion Shroyer on Oct. 3, 1948.
She first was employed at Whitley County Memorial Hospital as a switch board operator and later as a nurse’s aide. She then retired in 1989 after 25½ years from Dana Weatherhead Corporation, Columbia City.
She is survived by four children: Laura L. (Raymond) Dittmer, Columbia City; Vicki L. (Mike) Riordan, Fort Wayne; Guy A. Roberson and Jeff (Shelly) Roberson, both of Columbia City; one sister: Ruth Herman, Sturgis, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, H. Lee Roberson, sister, Dorothy Ramel and nephew, Bob Koch.
Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 29, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service followed with Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant officiating. Burial was held at Union Township Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial bequests may be given in Roberson’s memory to Whitley County Humane Society or to Passages, Inc.
