MARSHALL COUNTY — Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrested William Fredrick Lawson, 49, Plymouth, on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangering another person. He was booked in the Marshall County Jail.
It was at 3:56 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, when Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a vehicle collision at West Shore Drive and Fourth Road at Lake of the Woods. Police arrived and found Lawson seated in the front driver’s seat of his 2001 Ford F150. It was determined he had been involved in an earlier collision in St. Joseph County and had fled the scene, attempting to reach his home in Plymouth.
Police were able to track evidence back to the scene of the original accident, which occurred on Miami Road in St. Joseph County.
Lawson was allegedly highly intoxicated and the investigation revealed his blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit.
The matter is still under investigation as investigators with with St. Joseph County Police.
