Glen Morehouse

Morehouse,-Glen-obit-photoGlen Morehouse, 95, of Milford, passed away Sept. 12, 2015, at home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1919 in New Paris, to Samuel Guy and Lydia (Rowdabaugh) Morehouse.

Glen married Vera Dunwiddie on April 9, 1950; she survives.

Mr. Morehouse’s family moved from New Paris, to Milford when he was 1-year-old.  He was a farmer and mechanic for most of his life.  Glen worked at the Jelly Factory, for Herman Weisser, Wayne Bucher, and Ray Fervida. He worked for several years for Polk Farm Equipment and Clunette Equipment. Most recently, he helped Louie Davis with farming. Nearly every morning you could find him at Louie’s shop having coffee with his friends.

Glen was a member of New Salem Church of the Brethren where he was caretaker of the building and yard. He served on the board of directors for Kosciusko County REMC for over 30 years. Glen was known as a kind, quiet, frugal and helpful man. He took pride in his garden, especially watermelons, which he liked to share with friends. He helped everyone.

Glen is survived by his wife, Vera; his daughter: Georgina (Steve) Morehouse-Stout; five grandchildren, Dee Newcum of Chicago, Rachel (Gil) Amram of Indianapolis, Joshua Newcum, Louisville, Ky., Rebekah Newcum of Hawaii, and Christoper (Erin) Newcum of Columbia City; three brothers, John, Eldon, and Dean; two sisters, Louise and Lucille.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana Newcum in 2007; brothers, Everett, Herbert, Dale, Nelson and Harold; and one sister, Elsie.

A time of visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 461 W. 900N, Milford.

The funeral service in Mr. Morehouse’s honor will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:30 AM at New Salem Church of the Brethren, 10937 N. 200E, Milford, IN  46542 with Tim Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to New Salem Church of the Brethren.
