9/11 Tributes Slated For Friday

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — At least three services remembering Sept. 11, 2001, will be held in the county, with the public invited to attend the service of his choice.

A time of prayer will be held at the 9-11 Memorial at Center Lake Park, Warsaw, at 8:30 a.m. Friday. This event, sponsored by the Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association, remembers those who lost their lives and to pray for law, fire and emergency personnel who serve and protect citizens daily. A special time of silence will be held at 8:46 a.m. remembering when the North Tower of the World Trade Center was hit by American Airlines Flight 11. The South Tower, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon, also attacked that day, will be remembered. More information is available at www.gwma.info.

There will be a Sept. 11 commemoration service at 6 p.m. Friday, at the Veterans Memorial, Crosson Mill Park, 311 N. Huntington St., (SR 13), Syracuse. The Syracuse American Legion Post 223, Syracuse VFW Post 1352, Syracuse Police and Turkey Creek Fire Territory will participate in the brief but moving event.

A Patriot Day ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the 9-11 Memorial at Center Lake Park, Warsaw. Warsaw Community High School, Indiana Guard Reserve, Boy Scout Troop 715 and Lake Area Community Band are scheduled to participate. James Smith, Brad Kellar and Sgt. Daniel Murphy will be speakers with Brad Kellar singing “God Bless The USA” and Lane Summer and Ken Locke offering opening and closing prayer. Mike Cox, 9/11 remembrance planning committee, will provide the welcome and closing remarks.
