Members of Altrusa International of Warsaw gathered at the Boat House Restaurant in Winona Lake for their annual banquet on June 4.
The club’s new officer team was installed in a unique baker-themed ceremony honoring incoming president Vicki Martin’s baking talents. The new officer team includes Martin as president; Bevery Faulkner, vice president; Beth Huffer, secretary; Vicky Patterson, treasurer; board members Jan Sloan, Martie Lennane and Jeanine Knowles; and immediate past president, Sue Creighton.
Special recognition was given to Julie Miller, the single mother the Club sponsors through the CCS Project Independence Program. Miller is studying to become a nurse at Bethel College. Ferron Quiggle, family development specialist for Project Independence and Julie’s case worker was also recognized. Secret Sisters were honored and revealed.
Altrusa International of Warsaw has served this community since 1973. Not only has the club founded the Beaman Home and CASA, but they provide support to Grace College Mentors for Kids, Bakers Youth Club, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Mobile Meals.
They also donate the front doors for each Kosciusko County Habitat for Humanity home, have adopted a class at Lincoln School and partner with Kosciusko Literacy Services. Their international project supports Breath of Life Haiti.
