WWFT Fire Chief Mike Brubaker

Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Fire Chief Mike Bubaker has resigned his position of chief, due to his reduced passion for the administrative functions of the job. Brubaker will remain in the position of chief until a replacement is hired. He is additionally planning on remaining on the fire department.

City of Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer announced the resignation at the start of the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Protection Territory meeting this afternoon.

“Since his appointment as Chief more than 3 1/2 years ago, Mike has done everything I have asked of him and more,” expressed Mayor Thallemer. “He has been a ‘boots on the ground’ Chief from day one. His employees and the Warsaw Wayne-Township Fire Protection Territory Board have respected him as a great leader. He now feels that with the increase in administrative responsibilities for his job as Chief, it is taking him further away from his true passion as a firefighter.”

“I have reluctantly accepted Mike’s resignation as Chief, but I will work with new leadership to find a position for him that will utilize his firefighting skills moving forward,” added the Mayor.

The search process will begin immediately.

Brubaker has served as fire chief since January 2012.
