The cause of a fire that destroyed a garage, mobile home and three vehicles late Friday afternoon, between South Maple Grove Lane and West Channel Drive, Warsaw, is still undetermined according to Matthew Brubaker, Pierceton Fire Department Chief.
The home is owned by Fred and Sandy Prater, South Whitley, and occupied by Kerry and Jane Harrell, and their two children. All family members were able to get out of the home safely.
Brubaker stated the fire did start in the garage and spread to the home.
Assisting Pierceton Fire Department was Sidney, Winona Lake and North Webster with tankers. Manpower was provided by Larwill fire Department.
Water was shuttled to the scene from a dry hydrant at nearby Seller’s Lake.
Kosciusko County’s Chapter of the American Red Cross responded with water for the firefighters and assisted the family with immediate needs.
Firefighters were at the scene until 7 p.m.
