What started out as a garage fire, ended up destroying a mobile home and damaging a nearby mobile home on South Maple Grove Lane, between West Channel Drive, Warsaw, south of Pierceton. Three vehicles, parked outside the garage and contents of the garage were a total loss.
Details are not yet available from Pierceton Fire Department.
Pierceton Fire Department requested a full assist from Winona Lake and Sidney fire departments, putting North Webster, Syracuse, Leesburg, and Larwell fire departments on standby for other departments. Eventually North Webster and Larwell departments were contacted for either tanker assist or manpower.
The fire, reported around 4:20 p.m. was brought under control at 5:54 p.m.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants of the home.
According to the Kosciusko County property information, on the county website. The property is owned by is located the the Maple Grove Beach Addition, and owned by Fred and Sandy Prater, South Whitley. The property contained a 75-foot by 16-foot mobile home with a detaged garage measuring 24-feet by 24 feet.
Emergency personnel are currently responding to a reported garage fire located at 5875 S. Maple Grove Lane. Pierceton Fire Department has been called to the scene.
Winona Lake Fire Department has been called for a full assist.
