Helen M. Showalter, 89, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, May 1, 2015, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born April 26, 1926, in Goshen to Glen and Alice (Bennett) Kehr.
On July 30, 1943, she married Daniel Burton Showalter. He died Aug. 30, 1978.
A member of People’s Bible Church, Mrs. Showalter was a member of the Homemakers’ Club and enjoyed being with family and Wii bowling with her Greencroft friends. She worked as a head cook for New Paris Community School until her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Julie (David) Haab of New Paris; three sons, Burton Showalter of Goshen, James (Vena) Showalter of Warsaw and Gary (Mary) Showalter of Bristol; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, David Showalter; four brothers, GlennRay, Richard and Robert Kehr and a sister, Katheryn Renard.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 at Yoder-Culp Funeral home, Goshen. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor John Randolph will officiate.
Burial will be in Violett Cemetery at a later date.
