Three Injured In Car/Bus Accident Today

Lake-Sharon-Road-AccidentTwo children, who were not occupants of a school bus, and a bus driver were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital following a car/bus accident at 8:25 a.m. today. The accident was on East CR 225S at South Lake Sharon Road, Warsaw.

Jarod Ilada, 12, South CR 275E, Warsaw and Maya Ilada, 10, South CR 275E, Warsaw, along with Sarah G. Marsh, 35, Southfield Road, were taken to KCH for treatment. The 12-year-old complained of pain to his entire body and the 10-year-old complained of pain to her neck. Marsh, driver of the school bus, complained of pain to the elbow/lower arm.

The driver of the vehicle, Holly A. Ilada, 43, East CR 600S, Claypool, and 16 passengers on the school bus were not injured.

The Ilada vehicle, a 2011 Acura, collided with a 2008 Freightliner school bus, owned by Warsaw Community Schools.

Ilada told police she passed the school bus while she was traveling westbound on CR 225S. While the Ilada vehicle was passing the bus, the bus driver began making a left turn causing the collision. After the impact, Ilada lost control of her vehicle, going off the road and hitting a tree. Marsh stated she was in a no passing zone at the time of the accident and did have the turn signal on prior to the accident.

The investigating officer noted the area was a no passing zone and double yellow lines were painted on the roadway.

Ilada was cited for passing in a no passing zone. Damage was estimated up to $50,000.
